Pillar Launches DiverseCity onBoard

London is diverse but our leadership is not. In response, Pillar Nonprofit Network held their public launch of the DiverseCity onBoard program on Tuesday, September 15th. Pillar is the provincial lead on this national program that has been operating in Toronto since 2006. The Ontario collaborative partners include Hamilton, Ottawa and Toronto.
Over 40 people attended this event. Deputy Mayor, Maureen Cassidy brought greetings and congratulations from Mayor Matt Brown.
As the immigrant community in London continues to grow (22 per cent, 2011 census), the DiverseCity onBoard Program will play a key role in the community to help nonprofit and charitable organizations find qualified leaders from under- represented immigrant and minority communities. “The value proposition is clear,” says Michelle Baldwin, Executive Director of Pillar Nonprofit Network, “A board that reflects the diversity of the people it serves is seen as more authentic and responsive to community needs.”
