DiverseCity onBoard Launches in Calgary
On November 20th, 2016 DiverseCity onBoard Calgary officially launched!
In partnership with Bow Valley College (BVC) and the Centre for Excellence in Immigrant and Intercultural Advancement, DiverseCity onBoard Calgary strives to educate and connect those interested in board governance opportunities in Calgary with boards looking for qualified candidates.
To celebrate the official launch of DiverseCity onBoard Calgary, local and national partners were in attendance along with 90 invited guests, including: Cathy Winter, Program Manager, DiverseCity onBoard GTA/National; Anna Kae Todd, Vice President Academic, Bow Valley College; Dean Elza Bruk and Dean Cherylyn Cameron, Bow Valley College; Doug Watson, Executive Director, Propellus; Andrew McNair, Western Regional Manager (and sponsor of 7 training scholarships), RBC Royal Bank of Canada; and Liz Rees, Contract Services Coordinator (and program sponsor), Ministry of Labour.
Special guest Felipe Alberto, Peruvian musician and Grammy Award nominee, provided the evening’s entertainment. Our guest speakers were prolific and poignant about the benefits of inclusion and more diverse representation on boards, speaking to the common desire to see Calgary and Alberta’s not-for-profit boards and organizations thrive.
Growing steadily since January 2016, DiverseCity onBoard Calgary is making a positive impact on boards across our community. Through inclusion and accessible training, DiverseCity onBoard Calgary is quickly becoming the go-to program for boards and governance training.
